JIM HOLDERNESS

Jim enlisted in the USMC in the build-up for Desert Storm and served in the USMC reserves from 1991 until his honorable discharge in 1998. During this time, he graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1993 with a B.S. in Education.  He then attended law school at the Catholic University of America, earning his J.D. in 1997, and was admitted to practice law in MD, DC, VA and DE.

Having practiced real estate law in Baltimore City for nearly twenty years, he founded Outstanding Veterans, Inc. to shift his professional focus to support veterans and improve Baltimore City.  His legal experience, in conjunction with the personal and professional connections developed in Baltimore, puts our company in a strong position to advance our mission of providing jobs and housing for veterans.

JAY GIBSON

Growing up in Baltimore City for 49 years Jay Gibson was surrounded by friends and family serving in the military.   As a twelve-year old boy, Jay dreamed of serving our country.  Although he did not receive the honor of wearing a uniform, he now serves our country by supporting veterans who earned their stripes.

Jay started his entrepreneurship in 1995, as Independent Contractor for Sprint and ITT security sales as Field Team Manager.  Then in 1998, he opened his first business providing outside maintenance services for over 250 clients. This positioned him in the community full time.

Prior to his work as Community President, Jay helped design program initiatives like Unsung Hero Partnership Program (USHPP), a proposed development for veterans on the Eastside of Baltimore. In his role as acting Development Chairman of the North East Housing Initiative (NEHI), he helped prepare the Baltimore City Community Land Trust Mortgage Model. Since 2017, Jay has been attending the Harbor Bank CDFI Emerging Developer Program. He is also the Executive Manager of Angels of Hope Inc., Affordable Housing Non-Profit development division. His everyday presence helped shape the community which helped propel him to the honorable position as Community President of the Four by Four Association.  In this position, Jay has a platform that includes converting 50% of vacant properties in Baltimore City for Veteran housing inventory.

DOUGLAS S. BARTON

Douglas S. Barton started working in home improvements at the age of fourteen.  A month after high school graduation he shipped off to the U.S. Army’s infantry school in Fort Benning, GA. Upon graduating infantry school, he was stationed at Fort Stewart, GA where he participated in R.I.P. His next assignment was Fort Campbell, KY where he earned his Air Assault wings, AAM, and ARCOM. Doug was active duty for four years before he was honorably discharged late October 1999 and returned to Maryland with his family.

In December of 2006, Doug founded Daily Chore, LLC. The company was originally created to conduct janitorial and unit maintenance on commercial and residential properties.  In 2012, Doug wanted to expand his company so he created Contracting, Project Management, and Consulting, LLC. This company provides consulting and project management services for first time investors renovating one house and experienced investors working commercial projects.  In the summer of 2017, Doug and his partner created a real estate investment company, KDS Investment Group.  The success of these businesses, combined with  his experience in real estate development, allows Doug to help Outstanding Veterans, Inc. achieve its mission of housing veterans.

STEPHANIE BARTON

Stephanie has a background in project managing fix and flips and rental renovations for client investors. She helped manage the project/renovations from the beginning to the end including helping the client to find the house to purchase, budgeting, and managing the renovations and contractors.  Stephanie has chosen to take a different path in the housing industry as a real estate agent.  In this role, she will use her skills to help Outstanding Veterans, Inc. achieve its mission by identifying viable properties to develop a community for our veterans in Baltimore.  She will work with the individual veterans to assist with their available benefits to help them find them a new home and on the path to home ownership.
